Dr. John A. Hendy is a graduate of the University Of California at Riverside. He graduated at the top of his class in 1977 from the University of the Pacific Dental School. Dr. Hendy was granted honorary membership in TKO and OKU dental honor fraternities. A first place national award for dental research was won at the American Dental Association annual meeting in Washington D.C.
During dental school, Dr. Hendy's advanced credits in all areas of clinical dentistry won the many mini residencies above the standard curriculum.
One was in oral surgery at San Francisco's Letterman Army Hospital.
Another was in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at Oakland children's Hospital; and finally a position in pediatric dentistry at San Francisco Children's Hospital.
With many extra hours in oral surgery and periodontal surgery Dr. Hendy was awarded a periodontal surgery excellence award.
Dr. Hendy was also sent to New York to give a lecture on dental research to the International Association for Dental Research. This gave him an opportunity to meet the best clinical dentists and research dentists from around the world. During 2005 Dr. Hendy gave lectures on laser surgery and other therapies to dentists all over the globe. These lectures were in San Diego California, Reno Nevada, Dallas Texas, Cairns Austrailia, Seattle Washington, and Seoul Korea.
Since graduating from dental school Dr. Hendy has had nearly 3000 hours of post graduate training to keep abreast of new technology. A special 10 month general anesthesia program was the beginning. Continuing with hundreds of hours in cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, implant dentistry, periodontics, orthodontics and TMJ dysfunction training. A five year orthodontics program shows Dr. Hendy continues to dedicate his life to the pursuit of excellence through advanced education.
Dr. Hendy is a member of The American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, Rogue Valley Dental Association, International Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Hendy has been married to Vicki Hendy since 1974. They have three children, two boys and one girl, who have graduated from college and are now married and producing beautiful grandchildren.
